The team at YG is fortunate to experience their speakers daily, often moved by the emotional depth they convey, whether through tears or ear-to-ear grins. They hope that others will enjoy their creations just as much.

Truly International

YG Acoustics is a global company, with its historic headquarters and main CNC manufacturing site located in Denver, Colorado. The Denver facility boasts state-of-the-art machining capabilities, including waterjet cutting and both 3-axis and 5-axis precision machining. The team in Denver is involved in every aspect of production, from design and machining to finishing, assembly, and logistics. The site also features a beautifully designed listening room where pre-shipping tests are conducted, and visitors can experience the company’s speakers paired with a wide range of electronics.

Since 2020, YG Acoustics has also operated a research and development hub in Cambridge, UK. Known for its prestigious university and as a leading global technology hub, Cambridge provides the perfect setting for YG’s cutting-edge measurement tools and advanced facilities. The site is home to a GPU computing cluster used for running simulations. In early 2024, YG Acoustics launched the XV 3 Signature, a unique loudspeaker developed and fine-tuned by the R&D team. Each pair is meticulously measured and optimised to achieve the highest possible performance. To facilitate this, the company expanded its manufacturing capabilities in Cambridge. Since then, the facilities in both Denver and Cambridge have grown, allowing YG Acoustics to offer its complete range of speakers from both locations.

  • YG's Aims

At YG Acoustics, everyone shares a deep love for music and listens as often as possible. While nothing beats the excitement of a live performance, most of our listening is done through recorded music. For us, the audio system is not a laboratory tool but a means to recreate the magic of music, delivering every nuance and detail while making the listening experience engaging and joyful.

A great system should let you enjoy music for hours without fatigue, showcasing the finest recordings while also being forgiving of less-than-perfect ones. Our goal is to achieve the highest fidelity and musical involvement, especially in real-world listening environments. Interestingly, the better the loudspeaker design, the less it depends on precise room placement.

For us, a system that requires a specially treated room to perform is a failure. Equally, loudspeakers that demand perfect placement or offer a tiny sweet spot are not the ideal. While an optimal listening position and room setup will bring out the best in any system, we aim to deliver near-perfect performance from any position, in any room, with maximum placement flexibility.

This philosophy has guided many of YG Acoustics’ design decisions, from our complex sealed cabinets and proprietary Lattice tweeters to our finely tuned crossovers and drivers.

  • Science & Engineering

At YG Acoustics, advanced modelling capabilities are used to create loudspeakers that deliver a magical listening experience. While the team takes pride in these technologies, the focus remains on producing speakers that perform exceptionally in real-world settings, not just on paper.

Leading the high-end audio industry, YG Acoustics blends science, computational modelling, and precision engineering into every product. Their design philosophy, "design-build-listen-measure-model," drives each stage of development, from the loudspeaker’s structure to its smallest components. Whether it’s the innovative Lattice tweeter, advanced crossover designs, or the precise lacquer on the Peaks cabinets, every element is carefully measured and optimised.

Despite the technical sophistication, YG Acoustics doesn’t emphasise these details in their marketing. What matters most is how the speakers sound in real environments—how they evoke emotion, create goosebumps, and bring listeners closer to the heart of the music they love. This is the experience they aim to share, as it’s the sound that makes their speakers truly exceptional.

  • Simulation

Since 2020, YG Acoustics has utilised advanced computational modelling to support technology development, including multi-domain models and large-scale parallel computing.

Multi-domain modelling simulates various "domains" simultaneously, unlike traditional models that focus on just one aspect, such as electromagnetic, structural, or fluid dynamics. This integrated approach allows for more complex simulations, such as modelling a rocket’s stress, air flow, and fuel burning in a single system.

At YG, this methodology enables detailed modelling of every part of a loudspeaker, from the drivers—cone, suspension, magnet, and voice-coil—to the cabinet and air volume, even including the veneer and lacquer. Additionally, over 200 amplifier models, both current and historical, have been measured and modelled to understand how they interact with the speakers. The entire system is then simulated across various listening positions and room environments, ensuring the best possible performance not just in the sweet spot, but in a range of real-world listening conditions.

  • Drive Units

Every drive unit in a YG Acoustics loudspeaker is proprietary, designed specifically for YG, and not found in any other brand’s products.

YG’s BilletCore cones are crafted from solid slabs of aircraft-grade aluminium alloy. Over 99% of the material is machined away and recycled, leaving a cone that is just 0.2mm (0.008”) thick and weighs under 30g (1oz). This process preserves the strength and structure of the original billet, avoiding the strain that bending or stamping would introduce. The result is unmatched bandwidth, extremely low distortion, and the fastest transient response.

In listening tests, BilletCore drivers are effortless and precise, delivering incredible detail without any harshness, whether at concert levels or during quiet, intimate passages. Their pace and timing are exceptional, with flawless transient response.

YG’s Lattice tweeters feature an airframe machined in-house from a specially-selected aluminium alloy. Starting with an 80g billet, the final airframe weighs less than 0.03g (0.001oz), finished with a precision finer than 0.001mm. Its shape is the result of millions of CPU hours of computational optimisation, offering leading impulse response, bandwidth, and accuracy. It also broadens the tweeter's angular emission at high frequencies, providing an exceptionally wide sweet spot.

The Lattice tweeter’s sound is unparalleled, offering effortless realism, holographic imaging, and remarkable detail, all while remaining completely non-fatiguing.

  • Crossovers

YG Acoustics’ crossover designs are pivotal in achieving the superb sound quality that defines their speakers. Through an iterative process of listening, measuring, and modelling, YG has developed innovative circuits and components with topologies that deliver performance previously thought impossible for dynamic loudspeakers.

By optimising amplitude, phase, and phase slope, YG’s crossovers ensure the drive units are phase coherent across a wide frequency range—often spanning an octave or more around the crossover point. This means that each driver moves in perfect synchronization with its neighbouring unit, creating the illusion of a single, unified sound source.

This level of coherence is a revolutionary achievement. To YG’s knowledge, no other manufacturer has achieved this degree of precision. The scientific expertise, measurement accuracy, and extensive simulations required make it beyond the reach of most in the industry.

The results are remarkable. In measurements, there is virtually no distortion across the crossover range, outstanding transient response, and superb linearity. The drive units act as coherent sources, approaching the ideal "point source" of acoustic energy.

In listening, the effect is extraordinary. It offers a sense of realism and immediacy similar to full-range drivers or electrostatics but without their drawbacks. The sound is natural, dynamic, and non-fatiguing, with deep, powerful bass and exceptional pace. The impact is felt at both high and low volumes, with breathtaking musical intimacy and a large sweet spot, allowing the speakers to perform well in any room placement.
