Audio-Technica has expanded its line of direct-drive turntables with the semi-automatic AT-LP8X. This model features a newly designed tonearm lift, which automatically raises the tonearm at the end of a record side and stops the motor. The J-shaped aluminium tonearm, inspired by the brand's classic models from the 1960s and '70s, comes with the newly developed AT-LT10 headshell and AT-VM95E BK cartridge, fitted with a 0.3 x 0.7 mil elliptical stylus. This setup provides excellent channel separation and low distortion, enhancing tonal quality. Additionally, the stylus can be easily replaced or interchanged with other options in the VM95 line, while the adjustable vertical tracking angle (VTA) and sub counterweight offer versatility for using various cartridges.

The Audio Technica AT-LP8X is compatible with 33-1/3, 45, and 78 RPM records and features a 25 mm rubber-damped, anti-resonance die-cast aluminium platter, complete with a 2.5 mm rubber mat. Its sensor-monitored motor ensures precise platter rotation speed, and the motor is housed in a sturdy 16 mm MDF plinth with height-adjustable feet, providing excellent protection against unwanted noise and vibrations. The turntable also includes a detachable RCA output cable, 45 RPM adapter, and a removable hinged dust cover, making it a highly customisable and well-rounded addition to any vinyl setup.
