Design Innovation and Advanced Engineering
To enhance the Bowers & Wilkins 800 D4 Series, the approach centres on the continuous refinement of every individual component within each design, combined with the introduction of innovative, proprietary technologies. At the heart of this advancement is a rethinking of the fundamental principles behind a conventional loudspeaker drive unit, culminating in the development of the unique and revolutionary Biomimetic Suspension. This breakthrough represents just one of many new technologies created specifically for the range.
Enhanced Cabinet Construction and Materials
Each stereo model in the range benefits from a substantially upgraded cabinet design, featuring a completely new rigid cast aluminium top section that replaces the previous wooden version. This change delivers greater structural stiffness and further reduces unwanted cabinet resonance.
Refined Acoustics and New Cabinet Forms
All models incorporate an updated version of the iconic Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top housing, now equipped with an extended tube-loading system to deliver a more open and detailed high-frequency response.
The exceptionally rigid enclosure minimises resonance and is further enhanced by a new two-point decoupling system, improving isolation from the main body of the speaker. Precision-milled from a single block of aluminium, the tweeter housing now features an anodised finish that complements the cabinet colour.
In addition, the range introduces three entirely new cabinet designs. The 805 D4 and 804 D4 stereo models adopt a reverse-wrap cabinet structure, reducing the front baffle profile while significantly increasing overall rigidity.
This design also enables the crossovers to be positioned in dedicated compartments at the rear, housed within robust aluminium spines. The 804 D4 further advances this concept with a downward-firing port and integrated aluminium plinth, mirroring the architecture of larger floorstanding models.
