Refined Design and Digital Performance
The Cyrus i9-XR amplifier, the flagship of Cyrus's XR range, boasts significant upgrades from its predecessors. Housed in the signature die-cast Cyrus casing, the i9-XR showcases a sleek new phantom black finish and a high-resolution display with customisable brightness, contrast, and polarity. Its touch-sensitive controls add a modern, tactile feel, setting the i9-XR apart with both aesthetic appeal and intuitive usability. Inside, this amplifier includes ground-up engineering enhancements, featuring advanced digital capabilities thanks to its improved QXR DAC.
High-Quality DAC and Power Supply Integration
The i9-XR’s digital performance is powered by an updated 2nd generation QXR DAC with a high-speed analogue buffer stage, giving users precision control over sound through seven digital filter options. It supports high-resolution audio formats, with USB audio capability up to 768kHz sample rate, DSD up to DSD512, and multiple digital inputs. Additionally, the amplifier includes a port for the PSU-XR power supply upgrade, which offers five independent regulated supplies. This PSU-XR boosts the performance by providing smoother, isolated power to the preamplifier and enhancing the dynamic range of the power amplifier.
Outstanding Analogue and Phono Stages
For analogue connectivity, the i9-XR features a new analogue preamplifier with a high-performance gain stage, inherited from the high-end Pre-XR preamplifier, allowing a highly transparent and short-path signal. It includes four analogue inputs and a phono MM stage, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of analogue sources. The power amplifier operates across a wide frequency range, ensuring a clear and accurate audio response. Additionally, the integrated low-noise phono stage, inspired by the Phono Signature design, is optimised for vinyl playback, delivering excellent dynamic range and minimal noise for a superior turntable experience.

PMC's commitment to delivering natural, uncolored sound is evident in the Prodigy1. The Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) bass-loading is a cornerstone of PMC's renowned sound quality. ATL intelligently and efficiently utilizes the energy generated by the bass driver, outperforming traditional ported or sealed box designs. The addition of PMC Laminair airflow technology further refines ATL, enhancing clarity, timing, and eliminating unwanted air noise.
