The Mission 778X integrated amplifier is a nod to Mission's original 778 launched way back in 1983. The 778X has much in common with the original, a compact, half-width design that delivers a sound that belies its diminutive footprint. Like the original the Mission 778x sports a useful range of inputs, its circuitry has been entirely redesigned to meet and exceed contemporary standards, the new amp is a great sonic match for Mission’s current range, just as the 778 was in its day.
The Mission 778X ’s all round performance is engaging, detailed and refined. Detail, timing and dynamics excel, regardless of source or medium. Designed for the modern-day music enthusiast with a nod to our heritage, the Mission 778X does not discriminate when it comes to expression and enjoyment of your music reproduction.
Perfect for Turntables
The phono stage is based around a JFET-based circuit with precise RIAA equalisation. It’s optimised for MM cartridges and as such, it’s a high-quality, low-noise input that eliminates any need for an additional phono pre-amp.
Bluetooth wireless connection
Complementing the typical RCA line inputs are digital and coax connection options and a built-in Bluetooth receiver with an aptX and AAC codec, meaning the 778X offers CD performance via Bluetooth wireless connection. The convenience of streaming music from smart devices, such as phones, tablets or PCs have never sounded so good!
High-performance DAC
That’s not all in terms of digital music facilitation. The 778X is also equipped with a high-performance ESS ES9018K2M Reference chip with ESS Technology’s 32-bit HyperStream architecture and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator. In the world of digital music files, this means the 778X offers class-leading, ultra-low noise digital audio file compatibility, with a sampling rate of up to 384kHz (PCM) and DSD256!
Headphone Amplifier
Equal in performance to standalone headphone amplifiers, beyond the price- class of this complete system, the design offers high-speed output signal transition thanks to a high slew rate. The result is a dynamic, detailed and engaging performance with all manner of headphone types.
778CDT CD Transport
The Mission 778X marked the brand’s return to integrated amplification after more than three decades, redefining expectations with its compact size, power, and musicality. Building on that success, the 778CDT applies the same philosophy to CD playback: a focused, uncompromising approach that strips away clutter and places music firmly at the centre of the experience.

Mission Heritage And The 778 Series
Mission has long been recognised for products that exceed expectations, combining acoustic excellence, timeless design, and outstanding value. The 778CDT continues this tradition, carrying forward the Mission ethos with confidence. Styled to perfectly complement the 778X Integrated Amplifier and 778S Network Streamer, it completes the 778 Series as a dedicated CD transport designed for purity and seamless system integration.

Precision Engineering At The Core
At the heart of the 778CDT is a custom CD transport mechanism paired with a precision servo control system. This combination ensures stable disc rotation, accurate tracking, and robust error correction. A temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) acts as the master clock, significantly reducing jitter and delivering a clean, stable SPDIF signal to the connected DAC.

Clean Signal Design And Digital Outputs
True to Mission’s design philosophy, unnecessary complexity is avoided. Dedicated low-noise power supplies isolate critical sections, including the transport, laser, decoder, and master clock, preventing cross-interference and preserving signal integrity. Digital output is provided via both coaxial and optical SPDIF, ensuring effortless compatibility with the 778X or any high-quality external DAC.

Digital Versatility And Musical Focus
Beyond CD playback, the 778CDT supports USB-HDD playback of high-resolution digital files, including FLAC, WAV, MP3, WMA, and APE. These files benefit from the same precision clocking and low-noise architecture as CDs. Together with the 778X and 778S, the 778CDT forms a compact, stackable hi-fi ecosystem dedicated to musical connection, emotional clarity, and timeless sound.

Mission 778S
The Mission 778S is Mission’s first wireless music streamer, created as the ideal digital companion to the acclaimed 778X integrated amplifier. Designed for modern music lovers, it delivers seamless, high-quality streaming through intuitive app control, flexible connectivity, and audiophile-grade engineering. All of this is presented in the same elegant, compact half-width chassis and striking retro-inspired design that has already made the 778X a modern classic. Together, they form a complete, future-ready system that reflects Mission’s long-standing commitment to musical purity and performance.

The 778 Series Philosophy
The launch of the 778X marked Mission’s return to integrated amplification after more than thirty years, setting a new standard for compact, high-value hi-fi electronics. The 778S now completes the picture, bringing contemporary streaming capability while preserving the same musical priorities, visual harmony, and meticulous attention to engineering detail. Designed specifically for 778X owners and modern hi-fi systems, the 778S becomes the streaming heart of the setup. In keeping with Mission’s heritage, the 778 series blends refined design, exceptional sound quality, and outstanding value with a nod to classic aesthetics and forward-thinking performance.

Streaming Platform And Control
At the core of the 778S lies a robust streaming platform developed in collaboration with Silent Angel, specialists in high-end digital audio streaming. Beneath the distinctive Mission styling, a custom implementation of the Silent Angel streaming engine—carefully optimised by Mission engineers—ensures excellent fidelity, rock-solid stability, and impressive versatility. Accessing music is effortless via the Mission 778S app, offering direct streaming from Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, TuneIn Radio, DLNA, AirPlay 2, and USB storage devices. For advanced users, full Roon Ready certification guarantees bit-perfect playback and seamless integration over Wi-Fi or Ethernet, with simple and straightforward setup.

Engineering And Performance
The 778S is built around the ESS Technology ES9038Q2M Reference DAC, featuring 32-bit HyperStream architecture and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator technology for ultra-low noise and exceptional signal integrity. Incoming audio is precision upsampled to 352.8kHz or 384kHz, pushing digital artefacts beyond the audible range and allowing the DAC to perform at its optimal linear point. This approach results in cleaner transients, enhanced dynamics, and a more natural, spacious soundstage. Users can also bypass the upsampling and select from five DAC reconstruction filters, allowing subtle sonic tailoring to suit personal preference and varying source quality.

Connectivity & Flexibility
To accommodate a wide variety of systems, the 778S offers both digital outputs—including USB Audio, coaxial and optical—and high-quality analogue connections. Balanced XLR outputs enable full-resolution playback of high-definition formats such as DSD, while reducing noise and interference for longer cable runs. The onboard headphone amplifier further extends the unit’s versatility, delivering clarity and control across a wide range of headphones, from everyday models to reference-grade designs. As with all Mission products, the specifications are merely the foundation; the ultimate aim remains lifelike musical reproduction.
