The Audio Physic philosophy has always centred around continuous improvement, and this is evident in the new Classic 25 loudspeaker. Drawing from the technologies, materials, and innovations originally developed for the premium Reference Line, the Classic 25 delivers an exceptional acoustic performance at a more accessible price point. It closely approaches the performance of Audio Physic's top-tier speakers, reflecting the brand's commitment to achieving excellence in audio reproduction.
Construction
The Classic 25 utilises the highly regarded Sandwich Cabinet Construction, a design element first introduced with the Classic 20. The construction features a strong internal core, with back-painted glass panels affixed to the exterior using elastic acrylate adhesive strips. The differing resonance properties of glass and MDF, combined with the damping effects of the adhesive, effectively suppress unwanted vibrations and completely eliminate ‘cabinet sound.’ This design ensures that the speaker produces clean, undistorted sound without interference from internal resonances.
Acoustic Integrity
The adhesive strips also create a precisely defined gap between the core and the glass panels, which functions similarly to the insulating effect of double-glazed windows. This design prevents any sound from transmitting from inside the cabinet to the outside, except for the sound emitted directly from the drivers. The result is a pure, untainted listening experience, where listeners hear only the music itself, without any unwanted colouration from the speaker. The glass panels also feature a high-gloss finish that is far more durable than conventional paint, maintaining its brilliance and depth even after years of use.
State-of-the-Art Drivers
The Classic 25 incorporates state-of-the-art drivers, starting with the midrange driver, which boasts Audio Physic’s unique Dual Basket Design, a woven glass fibre diaphragm, and a Phase Plug directly mounted to the magnet motor for improved heat dissipation. This design is especially important in the midrange frequencies, which are critical for accurately reproducing human voices. The clarity and naturalness of the sound produced by this driver are unmatched in this price range. The larger 8-inch subwoofer in the Classic 25 enhances the low-end performance, while the bass-reflex system, coupled with a high-tech Ceramic Foam piece, prevents undesirable chuffing noises, resulting in a deep, clean bass response. The tweeter also features a well-ventilated motor and a horn-shaped sound guide to ensure seamless integration between mid and high frequencies, providing an immersive listening experience, even outside the optimal listening position.
A New Standard
The Classic 25 marks a significant advancement over the already impressive Classic 20, offering substantial improvements in acoustic performance. Its performance comes so close to that of Audio Physic’s Reference Line speakers, such as the Avanti 35, that it sets a new standard for loudspeakers in its price range. With real wood finishes available in walnut and cherry, complemented by elegant black glass on the front, the Classic 25 offers a sophisticated, timeless aesthetic to match its exceptional sound quality.
