Ortofon 2m Series

Red, Blue, Bronze, Black, Mono and 78 comprise the range, with the special edition LVB 250 at the very top. The Red and Blue share the same body, while the Bronze, Black and LVB feature upgraded pickup coils.

In any pickup system, the stylus and cantilever are the premium components, and it is here that the differences across the range are most clearly defined. You can easily upgrade from a Red to a Blue by replacing the stylus, and the Bronze, Black and LVB styli are fully interchangeable.

Ortofon 2m Red MM Cartridge

Although the most junior model in the range, it shares the same body with its more expensive counterparts.  The stylus is an elliptical type, bonded on to an aluminium cantilever. The sound is solid, detailed and robust.

  • Open, dynamic sound with a slight touch of warmth.

Ortofon 2m Blue MM Cartridge

Building on the strengths of the 2m Red, the 2M blue features a higher quality ‘nude’ elliptical stylus. A nude stylus is fitted directly to the cantilever, on the 2M Red, the stylus is bonded to a small metal shank. This adds extra mass and results in less stylus finesse.

  • With a more refined sound, it digs more details out of your record groove and gives a cleaner more open sound.
  • More dynamics and resolution, sounds more open and reproduces more details.

Ortofon 2m Black MM Cartridge

Listening to your records with the 2M Bronze is like hearing them for the first time, and you get to fall in love with the songs all over again. Additionally, its larger footprint ensures reduced distortion and record wear.

  • Give the music a whole new dimension of precision.
  • Improved high frequency openness
  • Clearer mids

Ortofon 2m Black MM Cartridge

The Shibata stylus of the Oroton 2m black closely mimics the shape of the studio record cutter. It gives a very precise and explicitly detailed sound, improving drastically on the 2M Bronze.

  • True accuracy and presences
  • Hear every little detail

Ortofon 2m Black LVB 250 MM Cartridge

Released to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven in December 2020, this model now tops the 2M range. This also features a nude Shibata type stylus, but the stylus is fitted to a lower mass carbon cantilever.

  • A sound so precise and so detailed that you feel like you have let the artist into your house and have them playing right in your living room.
  • Ensures notably detailed reproduction throughout the spectrum, including even the highest frequencies
  • Vocals have a rich reality and presence that is rarely found in cartridges under £1,000.
