New Generation Grand Class Turntable
The Technic SL-1300G turntable is designed with a Hi-Fi focus, featuring Technics' advanced ΔΣ-Drive motor technology. This new system enhances rotational accuracy and minimises vibrations, resulting in superior sound quality. Key elements contributing to this performance include the coreless direct-drive motor and a three-layered platter, combined with a high-rigidity chassis.
Motor and Construction
The turntable's coreless direct-drive motor is notable for eliminating cogging, which can cause uneven rotation. The motor's twin-rotor design reduces bearing load and maintains high torque while minimising minute vibrations.
The motor has been specially redesigned to avoid subtle vibrations that might impact sound quality. For increased rigidity, the motor's coil mounting base uses the same reinforcement pattern as the high-end SL-1000R/SP-10R models.
ΔΣ-Drive Technology - Delta Sigma Drve
The ΔΣ-Drive system represents the pinnacle of Technics' expertise in PWM signal processing. This cutting-edge technology reduces harmonic distortions and suppresses motor vibrations, allowing for smoother and more accurate rotation.
This results in more faithful reproduction of audio.
Platter and Vibration Control
The turntable features a three-layered platter made from a combination of brass and aluminium die-cast. It includes a rubber covering on the rear surface to absorb unnecessary resonance. This design not only provides exceptional rigidity and vibration damping but also surpasses the SP-10MK2 in rotational stability and has more than twice the inertial mass of the SL-1200MK5.
Rigidity and Balance
To ensure high rigidity, the SL1300G employs a body with a two-layered construction uniting BMC and aluminium die-cast chassis. Additional reinforcing ribs are placed between the motor and tone arm to enhance rigidity and vibration damping.
The factory adjusts the balance of each turntable using high-precision equipment, with each unit marked with a “BALANCED” sticker to signify proper adjustment.
Power Supply and Noise Reduction
The turntable is equipped with a high-speed switching power supply, which ensures stable power delivery with minimal ripple and humming. This technology eliminates the need for large transformers and reduces mechanical vibrations. The switching frequency of over 100 kHz limits noise interference, enhancing playback clarity. Additionally, the low-noise switching circuit includes a noise detection device and error amplifier to further remove residual noise.
Tonearm and Insulators
The tonearm is crafted from lightweight, rigid aluminium and follows the traditional static-balance universal S-shape. It features a gimbal suspension and high-precision bearing for accurate record tracking. Skilled Japanese artisans manually assemble the tonearm, which includes an auxiliary weight to accommodate various pickup cartridges. For vibration control, the SL-1300G uses special silicon rubber insulators, providing both high damping characteristics and long-term reliability. Additionally, the turntable includes gold-plated phono terminals for detachable cables and a metal shielding construction inside the case to minimise external noise interference.
