Instead of not using parts with small cosmetic faults Rega have decided to use such parts to build ECO Green Grade Rega products. These products will function and perform perfectly and come with Rega unrivalled Limited Lifetime Warranty against manufacturing defects.
Rega Planar 3 ECO Special
Using the aluminium skin plinth from the PL3 RS model, the PL3 ECO SPECIAL will include the RB330, 12mm glass platter and a clear dustcover finished with the Rega ECO lid badge.
Remember, the only compromise is appearance never performance, and when you are listening to your music on a Rega ECO Green grade product you can be safe in the knowledge you are helping our planet in the process.
For Rega this is a non profit initiative designed to use parts and save them from being disposed off.

I found the ECO P3 to have a certain uniqueness about it, I suppose you could say in terms of hybridisation, being reflective of both the P3 standard and the RS deck. I don’t think you could really say that for the other ECO editions therefore making this green grade series very interesting.
My deck was set up by the guys in Warrington at my request who efficiently got on with the task while exuding very little interaction unless approached. The deck played absolutely perfect and the quality was remarkably noticeable.
At this price point and being of a limited run, it just cannot be faulted. I wish I’d have known about the Ecos when I started my audiophile journey because quite frankly I’d have skipped the previous two tables I’ve owned ( 1 & 2) and just took the leap on one of these.
If you don’t mind a minor / negligible imperfection then this is a no brainer. Even as a backup deck, which mine will eventually be. You just won’t find anything that can compete at this level and at this price point. Well done to Rega for inadvertently dispelling the notion of ‘snobbery’ and yet maintaining their elite reputation of producing outstanding high standards in terms of emphasis upon quality performance. Just one of the many reasons why I love Rega.

It's a Planar 3. Bought for daughter as I had one many years ago. No issues with the planar eco, very easy to setup including attaching and aligning the ND3. Sounds superb through a Cyrus pre and power using an additional purchase of Regas phono stage. Highly recommended.

If you don't mind a potential cosmetic blemish you get a lot of turntable for the price. A real upgrade on my RP2
