First introduced in 2014, the original Hugo revolutionised portable DACs and headphone amps, becoming a landmark product in the audio industry. With the Hugo 2, Chord has harnessed the latest advances in digital technology, such as FPGAs and Watts Transient Aligned (WTA) filters, to provide a more flexible and technically advanced version, with improved sound quality and features. The Hugo 2 supports high-resolution playback up to 768kHz and DSD512 via its HD USB input and offers various input options, including optical, coaxial, and Bluetooth.
Hugo 2 is designed for both home and on-the-go use, with features that make it adaptable to a variety of audio setups. It includes four digital inputs, analogue outputs (2x RCA, 3.5mm, and 6.35mm headphone outputs), and a four-function switch filter that allows users to shape the frequency response to their preference. The device also retains the popular digital crossfeed function for headphone listening, creating a more speaker-like experience. With around seven hours of battery life, automatic charging modes, and easy-to-use controls, the Hugo 2 provides both portability and high-quality audio performance.
