The Drive

Building upon the revolutionary technologies developed for Gryphon’s EOS 2, the engineers took on an even more ambitious challenge: creating a state-of-the-art reference loudspeaker that embodied the ethos and design aesthetic of its smaller counterpart. Standing at just 1.3 meters tall, the EOS 5 delivers full-frequency-range performance (20-40,000 Hz, +2 dB) and exceptional dynamic capability in a compact, visually stunning form. This impressive performance was achieved by pioneering technologies that didn’t exist before. Each of the four drivers is a breakthrough design bespoke to the EOS 5, including the 6.5” Midrange and dual 9.5” Woofers, both utilizing the innovative TPCD™ (Thin-Ply Carbon Fiber Diaphragm) cone construction and Gryphon’s proprietary Impulse Optimizer Rings. These performance advancements were first seen in the EOS 2 and have now been perfected for the EOS 5.

The driver design of the EOS 5 reflects Gryphon’s commitment to excellence. The cones are crafted by one of the world’s leading manufacturers of Formula 1 components, ensuring the highest level of precision. The speaker also features a purpose-engineered 29mm Beryllium Dome Tweeter, designed to complement the higher mid-treble crossover point of the EOS 5. The attention to linear phase response across the frequency spectrum ensures a seamless and transparent sound, further enhancing the listening experience. Hand-assembled using the finest electrical components, the Progressive Curved Slope (PCS) crossover maximizes power handling while ensuring smooth transitions between drivers. A True Jewel

Visually, the EOS 5 shares the elegant, jewel-like cabinet aesthetic of its smaller sibling. Its critically-shaped “Stealth” enclosure serves a secondary purpose of diffusing standing waves, allowing the speaker to virtually disappear within the listening room. Internally, the speaker incorporates a new Line-Dampened Porting System that ensures smooth airflow, even in the larger, wider-bandwidth design. Like the EOS 2, the EOS 5 is designed for versatile placement across a wide range of listening environments. Gryphon’s custom-manufactured, adjustable spikes, equipped with removable dampers, allow for optimal speaker positioning on any floor surface, whether carpeted or not. The inclusion of proprietary binding posts—found on Gryphon’s Apex Power Amplifiers—provides the option for single or bi-wiring.
