Marantz CINEMA 70s Series 2 AV Receiver
The Marantz CINEMA 70s Series 2 is a slimline 7.2-channel AV receiver for home cinema systems where a full-height receiver won't fit. It powers seven channels at 50 watts each, decodes Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, and has six HDMI inputs and an eARC output, with HEOS streaming built in. Room calibration is handled by Audyssey MultEQ XT, with Dirac Live available as an optional upgrade.

Sound
The Series 2 adds an upgraded 32-bit, eight-channel DAC. As with the rest of the CINEMA range, the receiver is tuned by Marantz's Sound Master, with the aim of a balanced sound that suits music as well as film soundtracks. Pure Direct mode switches off processing and circuitry that isn't needed for straightforward listening.
Connections and Gaming
Three of the six HDMI inputs pass 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz signals at up to 40Gbps, and the receiver supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG and Dynamic HDR. For gaming, it passes through VRR, ALLM and Quick Frame Transport, and is AMD FreeSync compatible on HDMI inputs 4 to 6. Other connections include a moving-magnet phono stage, three analogue inputs, optical and coaxial digital inputs, a front USB port and a 7.2-channel pre-out for adding external power amplifiers.
Streaming and Multi-Room
HEOS brings streaming services and internet radio together in one app, and links the receiver with other HEOS products around the home. Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth are all supported, the receiver is Roon Ready, and it can send audio to Bluetooth headphones. A second zone can be run from the receiver's own amplifier or from its pre-outs.
Setup and Control
An on-screen setup assistant guides you through connecting and configuring your speakers, and the supplied microphone is used to calibrate the system to your room. Day-to-day control is via the remote or the Marantz AVR Remote and HEOS apps, and custom installers have IP control, an IR flasher input and a DC trigger output to work with.
