The CD Box RS2 Tube is a high-end top-loading CD player and the latest addition to the RS2 range. Housed in the same ultra-elegant, full aluminium chassis as other RS2 components, it introduces a fully balanced tube output stage combined with a high-quality Red Book CD mechanism. It is the first CD player in the RS line to feature an integrated DAC, using the renowned Texas Instruments PCM1796 in a fully differential configuration to deliver exceptional musical performance.

True Red Book Playback

Designed as a dedicated Red Book CD player, the CD Box RS2 Tube focuses exclusively on optimal CDDA playback rather than multi-format compatibility. It is built around the SUOS DM-3381 top-loading CD mechanism and the latest Blue Tiger CD-88 servo system. This combination ensures precise 1:1 data retrieval, reduced jitter and accurate disc reading, delivering consistently clean and reliable stereo CD performance.

Precision Engineering and Digital Conversion

The DM-3381 mechanism is mounted in a rigid aluminium construction that minimises vibration and shields the drive from electromagnetic interference. Paired with the advanced Blue Tiger CD-88 servo, it employs sophisticated error correction and predictive algorithms to maintain data integrity at all times. Digital-to-analogue conversion is handled by the Texas Instruments PCM1796 DAC, chosen for its smooth, analogue-like sound character, which perfectly complements the tube output stage.

The Cleanest Power and Build

To preserve signal purity, the CD Box RS2 Tube uses an external switch-mode power supply, keeping electromagnetic interference away from sensitive audio circuitry. An optional linear upgrade power supply is available for further sonic improvements. The player offers both RCA and fully balanced XLR outputs, each with dedicated output stages, as well as optical and coaxial digital outputs.
