Chord ShawlineX Speaker Cable - Terminated Pair (Banana to Banana)

The Chord ShawlineX speaker cable is built upon the foundation of the highly regarded Chord Rumour (now known as RumourX), a favourite for over 20 years. ShawlineX features silver-plated conductors, insulated with XLPE, and arranged in a twisted pair configuration for improved performance. To create ShawlineX, The Chord Company has enhanced the original design by adding a specially selected PVC internal jacket to minimise mechanical noise. This is further complemented by the high-density, dual-layer foil and braid shield, which is also used in the renowned Chord Epic range. These design elements work together to improve overall sound quality and reduce unwanted interference.

Earlier versions of the Shawline and Rumour cables utilised PTFE insulation (often referred to as Teflon™), which remained the go-to material until the advent of Taylon®. Despite its high cost, PTFE offered exceptional performance. However, advances in material technology have provided new alternatives. Although the expense of Taylon® prevents its widespread use, The Chord Company discovered a superior alternative in the form of XLPE (Cross-linked Polyethylene). After extensive listening tests, it was clear that a particular version of XLPE delivered significantly better sonic results than PTFE, making it the ideal choice for ShawlineX.

Rumour and RumourX have been staples in The Chord Company’s range for many years due to their ability to offer a neutral sound that is not biased towards any particular tonal quality. This neutrality allows the cable to carry high levels of detail and dynamic information, resulting in a coherent and accurate sound. ShawlineX builds on this solid foundation, refining it further by incorporating high-frequency effective shielding to reduce interference. This shielding enables ShawlineX to preserve the micro-dynamics and timing nuances crucial to musical expression, delivering fine details that reveal the true timbre of individual instruments. The result is an immersive and detailed listening experience, enhancing both the depth and imaging of the system it is used with, allowing listeners to engage more deeply with the music.
